OVERVIEW

USCRI manages a Reception and Placement (R&P) program across the U.S. through a cooperative agreement with the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration, U.S. Department of State, The R&P program assists newly resettled refugees in the Unites States and helps them secure early economic self-sufficiency and successfully integrate into American society. The Senior Program Officer is directly responsible for managing post-arrival program activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure consistent oversight and support of post-arrival program activities.
  • Provide technical assistance and respond to program inquiries.
  • Represent USCRI on resettlement working group calls.
  • Provide ongoing leadership, direction, and supervision to program staff.
  • Provide training on program requirements to network staff and Resettlement Directors.
  • Develop and maintain quality assurance policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide consultations, technical assistance, and guidance to local resettlement sites in the USCRI network.
  • Travel to network locations to conduct in person monitoring and desk audits to evaluate the quality of services being provided to qualified participants.
  • Assist in drafting and submitting the annual R&P program proposal to funder.
  • Identify, leverage, and stay abreast of relevant existing promising practices and tools from a wide range of sources and partners to enhance resource capability and impact.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's degree in the areas of social services, international affairs and / or immigration policy, international law, or social work with related technical assistance and training, OR a Bachelor's degree with at least five years' experience in related fields; MSW preferred but not required.
  • At least one year of Senior experience;
  • Experience working with refugee serving programs and / or resettlement processing;
  • Experience providing training and technical assistance;
  • Experience in program monitoring and evaluation or continuous quality improvement;
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically proficiency with Word, Power Point and Excel;
  • Ability to work both as a team member and independently, with a high level of self-motivation, flexibility to meet goals and deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with USCRI affiliates, national partners, and funders;
  • Highly adaptable and flexible with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment;
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team and independently;
  • Foreign language ability is preferable, and individuals of culturally diverse and / or underrepresented backgrounds are encouraged to apply;
  • Ability to travel domestically, several times per year; and
  • Demonstrated support of USCRI's values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of confidential information, an appreciation of a multicultural workplace, and a dedication to human rights, including of trafficking victims, refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and vulnerable or disenfranchised populations.
  • TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Satisfactory completion of USCRI's Orientation and Training; and
  • Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.
