Summary

The Electrician Supervisor involves the direction and supervision of journeyman electronic mechanics, electricians, and others, as assigned, in the maintenance, installation, and repair of all electronic and electrical apparatus, exclusive of patient care medical equipment. The position is under the immediate supervision of the Facility Manager of Operations of Engineering, who reviews work on end results achieved, makes decisions independently within the range of responsibility.

Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized Must know the safety rules and the proper use of safety equipment pertinent to work with, primary voltages up to 12,470 and secondary voltages up to 480. He/she must know the National Electric Code, Elevator Safety Code and all local electric codes. Must have the ability to interpret and apply the NEC, local Codes, building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings and to use trade formulas to calculate common properties. Must have working knowledge of the operation and installation of a variety of complete electrical systems and equipment.

  • One-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required.*** As the Electrician Supervisor, the incumbent's duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Assign work to subordinates through oral and written instructions.
  • Provide on-the-job training and participate in the formal training program for employees.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair work.
  • Evaluate employee performance and counsel journeyman regarding performance, administer disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Interview applicants and make recommendations for hiring, promoting, reassignment, assist with orientation of new employees.
  • Evaluate operations and recommend means of improving the efficiency of the service in manpower utilization and work procedures.
  • Order materials and maintain stock levels to ensure work delays of than 10% of scheduled work.
  • Expedite a Preventive Maintenance (PM) program to complete at least 95% of scheduled PMI and PM activity each month.
  • Establish standard operating procedures and review job analysis sheets for accuracy and manpower utilization.
  • Determine and order supplies, repair parts, test equipment, and tools for the electric and electronic shops.
  • Initiate work orders for repair and maintenance of equipment.

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.



Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
