The Canteen Chief oversees all aspects of canteen operations in Fort Wayne, IN, including retail, food service, vending, sales, merchandising, and accountability. This role entails comprehensive personnel management, administrative oversight, and process evaluations related to canteen functions, such as planograms (POGs), retail point-of-sale (RPOS) systems, inventory control, stock scheduling, food safety, sanitation, and promotional initiatives. Additionally, the Canteen Chief is responsible for achieving financial targets and executing program objectives as directed by the Veterans Canteen Service Central Office (VCSCO) and/or the Regional Director.

- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- You will be required to serve a probationary period of 1 year.
- Subject to background/security investigation.
- Must be vaccinated against Covid-19 for this agency.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of direct food/retail management experience.
- Prior experience with inventory management, supply cost and shrinkage controls, and P&L management experience.
- Proven track record of building sales, increasing profits, and staff development.
- Ability to assess business needs and problem-solve.
- Hands-on leadership with a strong focus on service and hospitality.
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Experience with POS Systems.
- ServSafe certification required or obtained within 90 days of hire date.
Associate Degree preferred, but not required, in Business, Hospitality or Management.
