Duties include but not limited to:

Work Schedule: Full Time including weekends and holidays: 7am - 7pm or 9am - 9pm. Work schedule is set by the supervisor and is based on the needs and mission of the VA, the service, patients etc.

OR iii. A doctoral degree in a health-related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and one year of professional practice as a PA.

The Employee Health Physician Assistant (PA) functions within the Emergency Department to provide care to employees of the Robert J. Dole VAMC, Wichita, KS. The PA will also provide emergency medical services to veterans when not working in Employee Health.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Employee will work at least 51% in Occupational/Employee Health Department.
- Employee will also provide coverage in the Emergency Department.
- Help triage requests for outpatient Emergency Department consultation in a timely manner, coordinate tests and visits based on clinical urgency, and assist in facilitating IFC consults and referrals from other VA facilities.
- Coordinate and supervise the delivery of outpatient care for Emergency Department patients including patient evaluation; treatment including biopsies, order appropriate medications, schedule follow-up as needed, appropriate referrals as needed.
- Performs and records history and physical examinations and records data from clinic visits on a regular and ongoing basis in the provision of care within Primary Care, Employee Health Clinic to eligible employees in accordance with individual patient needs, using EHU protocols as a general guideline
- Performs a comprehensive patient assessment, including a health history, physical examination and evaluation of deviations from the normal for employees requiring annual surveillance exams
- Performs comprehensive history and physical exam on Primary Care Veterans and employees who present with work-related injuries
- Coordinates with supervisors to establish modified work programs that reduce lost work time and promotes rapid but appropriate return to work for injured employees
- Promotes health maintenance through coordination of facility and /or departmental and community resources, facilitating interdisciplinary communications and function through electronic dialog and face-to-face conferences
- Serves as a Case Manager and liaison between injured employees and private physicians/specialists, both duty and non-duty related that promotes optimum healing and rapid return to work with modified work programs
- Conducts investigative procedure in work areas with history of various accidents in order to promote safe environment for employees, visitors, and veterans alike
- Collaborates with other health disciplines to ensure the continuity of patient care
- Uses community resources to coordinate prevention and health maintenance programs for patients/clients
- Participates in services and medical center's committees and task forces as required
- Provides health teaching to patients, employees and families and assists patients and employees to become responsible for their own health care through education
- Other duties as assigned.

- Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant :AND:
- Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) (or are you in the process to taking the exam) :AND:
- Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
Physician Assistant-I (PA-I)
- Experience and Education. None beyond the basic requirements. This is the entry level for PAs.
- Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
Physician Assistant-II (PA-II)
- Experience and Education. The PA at this grade is at the intermediate grade level and has had progressively increasing responsibility and experiences as indicated in the KSAs listed below. Individuals will have demonstrated the ability to analyze and solve more complex medical problems than at the entry level grade and can utilize their training in the successful practice of patient care and participate in team problem solving.
- Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs). PAs at this level are not required to meet each individual KSA listed below to qualify, but should be able to demonstrate, develop, or acquire those not met upon appointment for PA-II: i. Skills to analyze and solve complex medical problems. ii. Ability to function autonomously and make independent medical decisions. iii. Skill to incorporate training and experience into the successful practice of patient care including telehealth medical care. iv. Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment for improvement of services for patient care. v. Ability to practice with colleagues and peers collaboratively.

Ability to implement and initiate clinical changes to established treatment protocols based upon new medical literature research findings to enhance patient delivery care for improved patient outcomes. vi. Ability to participate clinically in the development of the PA patient care audit processes involving in-depth review and analysis of medical records.
