VA Providence Healthcare System is seeking an accomplished cardiologist to join our academic medical center as a faculty member specializing in cardiovascular imaging. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in advanced cardiovascular imaging (e.g., echocardiography, cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, or nuclear cardiology) and a commitment to excellence in patient care, education and research. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a vibrant academic environment at VA Providence Healthcare System and Brown University by integrating clinical expertise with innovative research and educational endeavors. Based on experience, the position will be eligible for academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at Brown University, Warren Alpert School of Medicine.
Summary of Duties :
- Provide expert-level care in cardiovascular imaging, including interpretation and procedural guidance across modalities (e.g., echocardiography, cardiac MRI, cardiac CT).
- Participate in clinical duties, including inpatient and outpatient care, as part of the Cardiology section.
- Conduct high-quality, impactful research in cardiovascular imaging or related fields.
- Disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
- Pursue external funding opportunities to support research activities.
- Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees in the principles and applications of cardiovascular imaging and in cardiovascular medicine.
- Develop and deliver educational programs, including lectures, workshops, and case-based learning sessions.
- Participate in curriculum development and other educational initiatives within the section.
- Contribute to section goals and strategic planning, particularly in advancing imaging services and academic programs.
- Lead or participate in interdisciplinary committees to improve clinical and research operations.

Pay : Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.
Paid Time Off : 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME).
Retirement : Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.

Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.

Physical Requirements : Applicants must meet physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to placement is required. This is a designated drug testing position. After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use. Requires lifting 15-44 pounds; pushing (approx. 2 hours); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers and both hands; walking and standing from 3-5 hours and kneeling. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Must have depth perception and ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors. Hearing aid is permitted.
