Statement of Duties
Provide evaluation, treatment and on-going management of urological injuries and
disease in both a clinical and surgical setting.
Daily administrative duties and quality assurance projects per the needs of the
Surgical Service.
The majority of the Urologist's time should be devoted to patient care, supervision
of APNs/PAs, administrative duties, with the remaining set aside for quality
assurance activities of the Surgical Service.
Evaluation, treatment and on-going management of urological disease in both a
clinical and surgical setting.
Provide surgical treatment for genitourinary injuries and diseases including major
and minor procedures, stone management, consultations for emergency room
patients, in-patients and outpatients.
Performs the usual administrative components of patient care management, such
as: documentation of progress notes and consultation findings in an electronic
medical record, dictation and electronic signature of OP reports, electronic entry
and signature of all doctor's orders for outpatients, etc. Must meet documentation
requirements set forth by the Joint Commission and VA Standards.
Coordinate and direct work during medical and surgical procedures with nurses,
APNs, PAs, medical technicians and other health care providers.
Some call coverage may be required.
Participate in the development and implementation of program planning, objectives,
policies and standards essential to delivery of quality urological care.
Performs other directly related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm

- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. (
NOTE: VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), b) OR [(2) Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA),OR - Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States), which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiences.
