Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
- Partners with Vice President, Operations –This includes the implementation of operations policies, procedures, structures and performance standards, within the boundaries of corporate policies and guidelines
- Actively participates in corporate strategic planning and directs activities is assigned operational unit that support and sustain the company’s profitability and growth
- Collaborates with other leaders, and leads subordinate project field leaders (Foreman, Superintendents), to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel for division projects
- Oversees total project supervision effort to ensure appropriate personnel, budget, and schedules are met. Regularly communicates with Project Managers to meet project goals, including safety goals, productivity goals and profitability goals
- Responsible for planning and recruiting staff for each project and maintaining optimal manpower levels
- Serves as a technical advisor to all project supervision to assist in resolving difficult construction problems.
- Approves requisitions for equipment, materials, and supplies within limits of operations department budget. May negotiate contracts with equipment and material suppliers
- Ensures the compliance of operations personnel with administrative policies, procedure, safety rules and other applicable regulations
- Keeps current on construction industry safety standards and consistently monitors the corporate safety program
- In conjunction with Safety Director, provides leadership, administrative and technical direction on all corporate safety and health programs, procedures, and policies. Makes recommendations to corporate Management committee on all safety related issues
- Responsible for the effective management of field personnel within assigned location, in partnership with field superintendents and foreman. This includes requisition of manpower, performance management, training and administration of human resource policies and procedures
- Coordinates operations/production efforts with appropriate Project Managers, Superintendents, Foreman, and other project leadership to ensure field operations are maintained at maximum efficiency
- Partners with other divisional leaders to identify and capitalize on potential business opportunities. Establishes and fosters effective relationships with primary clients, general contractors, and sub-contractors to leverage opportunities
- Participates or coordinates with other leaders in community or philanthropic activities
- The Director of Field Operations is responsible for managing overall Field manpower for all locations within the company. This includes a balanced focus on our four focus areas: clients, people, performance and growth
- Provides input to the Vice President, Operations
- Ensures consistency of Field processes throughout the company, including Job Hazard analysis, Lookaheads, safety processes and productivity tracking
- Responsible for ongoing efforts to develop the next generation of top field leaders
- Participates on Strategic Leadership Team

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management preferred. However, significant technical training and/or industry experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
- Minimum 5 – 10 years’ experience managing an operations unit or performing craft supervision for large-scale construction projects
- Minimum of 10 years’ overall experience in mechanical construction
- Strongly prefer significant field leadership experience
- Advanced knowledge of various construction operations methods, processes, and industry standards. Thorough understanding of complete project life cycle
- Possesses deep technical skill in specific areas of operations expertise
- Proven ability to effectively manage a team to achieve results, despite multiple and changing priorities
- Excellent leadership and communications skills; proven collaborator
- Able to establish and foster effective professional relationships, both internally and externally – within and across divisions, projects etc
- Business acumen, combined with analytical thinking, resulting in ability to manage company’s opportunities, risk, profitability, and volume
- Superior time management skills and organizational skills
- Able to take a collaborative approach to identifying and solving problems
- Work will be done in a combination of environments; includes office setting, job sites, external meetings. Regular driving to job sites is required, 25% - 40% travel to remote job sites (involving overnight stays) will be required
- Required frequent sitting, standing, walking, keyboarding, use of monito and telephone. Occasional climbing, reaching, stooping and lifting required
- The range for this position has been established at $153,120.00 - $216,282.00 and is US Engineering Innovations’ good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training
