Job Title
A Physician Extender (PA/NP) opportunity exists at the Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Liberty, NC, in the Emergency Medicine Department to provide services to military service members, their families, and veterans.

Qualifications
- Degree/Education: NP - Master's Degree in Nursing, PA - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross; Advanced certification does not supersede BLS
- Experience: At least one full year of professional nursing experience with clinical competency demonstrated within the past two years in the required clinical discipline
- Board Certification: A graduate or higher level degree from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required
- Licensure/Registration: Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
Job Duties
- Technically direct and teach other staff, provide educational lectures, and participate in in-service training to staff members
- Promote preventive care and health maintenance through formal and individual education and counseling
- Prescribe medications and immunizations according to approved treatment protocols and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
- Identify medical problems and determine appropriate action, including referral to a physician
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures in accordance with scope of practice
- Establish collaborative rapport with physicians, nurses, and others to promote primary care services
- Teach patients and family members healthy regimens and responsibility for achieving wellness
- Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols and clinical practice guidelines
- Communicate and collaborate with diverse groups to inform the healthcare team of plans/actions and for teaching/education
