The U.S. Market Transformation & Development (U.S. MTD) team works to achieve USGBC’s mission by leading, educating, engaging, and empowering communities to build green. As the U.S. MTD Sales Research Intern, you will support the team in researching and qualifying potential prospects for the expanded use of USGBC and GBCI products and services, such as the LEED, SITES, and TRUE rating systems. This will entail conducting research to identify and qualify potential clients, collaborating with staff members across the U.S., and preparing and presenting information.
You will gain hands-on experience in sales and prospecting, exposure to sales techniques and strategy, and the opportunity to network and build connections for your professional network. You will have opportunities to be mentored and guided by experienced sales professionals.

Specific Responsibilities
- Lead Research and Qualification: Utilizing information systems to research client types, qualifying the information based on criteria, and producing final reports and lists to enable the work of 30 remote staff.
- CRM Management: Update and maintain accurate information on leads and prospects in Salesforce.
- Sales Support: Learning the sales framework and business approach of the U.S. MTD team and attending meetings when appropriate.
- Market Analysis: Assist in tracking and reporting on sales performance and market trends.
- Business Practices: Applying quality control measures to ensure data integrity and reliability. Organizing and defining your work plan to achieve your internship goals.
- Communication: Consulting staff for feedback and determining needed updates and additions to the researched information. Presenting your work to internal audiences in a concise and actionable format.

- Eagerness to learn and an interest in sales and business development
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree or certification program in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
- Ability to balance listening and talking, speaking and writing clearly and accurately, and influencing others and keeping others informed
- Ability to break apart complex work into manageable tasks, create a plan, and follow through on tasks without being asked
- Ability to recognize and correct spelling and grammar errors, while maintaining the rules of USGBC’s voice
- Being receptive to feedback, willing to learn, and embracing continuous improvement
- Ability to independently use and learn software, specifically Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, Salesforce, and Smartsheet
- Prior experience working in a remote office or on a team within a large organization
- Prior experience in sales, customer service, or internships related to business development
- Full Time, paid internship
- Location: Remote
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, 40 hours per week
