Position Summary
As an Event Lead, you will oversee the execution and volunteer management of our Hunger Projects with various corporations, schools, congregations, and organizations across the United States.
Serving as the point of contact on the day of the event, the Event Lead is responsible for ensuring a successful, engaging, and impactful event for our partners and volunteers.
Day to day, you will have the opportunity to travel to and lead our volunteer events varying in size and scope. The person in this role has oversight of event set up, load-in and load-out, event logistics, manages on-site event staff, and ensures our events are following schedule.

Position Summary

Main Responsibilities
- Travel to and lead Tier 1 and Tier 2 Hunger Projects
- Tier 1 HPs - up to 10 lines and 2 shifts, and approximately 50K meals
- Tier 2 HPs - more than 10 lines and 2 shifts, over 50K meals
- Emcee the events which requires speaking in front of crowds (large and small)
- Guide volunteers, partners, and staff on best practices (verbally & through action)
- Connect with clients and ensure excellent customer service
- Face to face connection during, before, and after projects
- Some communication via email and/or phone
- Ensure positive interactions between partners and USH
- Manage the Event Team, including staff and Key Volunteers, during projects and project-related travel
- Lead the team to success through guidance and hands-on leadership
- Delegate responsibilities prior to, during, and after events
- Load and unload trucks and shipments at events
- Act as an on-site liaison with delivery partners
- Lead USH team during load-in/load-out
- Coordinate with project hosts to ensure efficient setup
- Act as an on-site liaison with delivery partners
- Face to face communication, phone, and email
- Ensure meals are picked up by partners or shipped back to USH warehouses
- Keep track of all delivery/shipment paperwork
- Coordinate and facilitate event setup and breakdown
- Lay electricity to power equipment
- Ensure that all equipment, marketing materials/visuals, sound systems, etc are set up properly.
- Guide staff through setup and breakdown
- Ensure the setup and breakdown of Hunger Project lines and materials
- Ensure food safety guidelines are adhered to by all staff and volunteers
- Participate in warehouse activities (occasional)
- Operating a forklift and/or pallet jack
- Preparing outbound shipments
- Manually loading and unloading box trucks and semi-trucks
- Coordinate the pickup of our food by our Meal Distribution partners upon completion of our Hunger Projects.
- Communicate with MD partner contacts
- Update information in our system to share pickup details.
- Communicate information about U. S. Hunger with all interested parties, including potential new partners and donors
- Share leads with the appropriate staff members
- Report on effectiveness of each Hunger Project
- Fully complete Post Event Action Reports for all attended projects
- Electronically submit Event Feedback on time
- Participate in team meetings and communications under the direction of the Event Lead Manager
- This position may be up to 75% travel time.
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 1-3 years of experience in event management, operations, or a client-engaging role
- Extremely attentive to detail, accurate, and thorough in all communication
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
- Comfortable and confident speaking in front of a crowd
- Enthusiastic, strong interpersonal skills, and positive attitude
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage large groups of people
- Must have a valid driver’s license in order to transport product in a sprinter van
- Must be available to travel (up to 75% of time)
- Work is primarily in an environment that is loud and crowded
- Standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, grabbing, holding, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repetitively and remain on your feet for hours at a time
- Ability to operate a computer and other technology-based tools
