Duties
Develops requirements, standard operating procedures, and policies for physical security programs; participates in the budget and financial aspects of the physical security program.
Conducts security surveys, risk / vulnerability assessments, and provides recommendations. Performs physical security work;
resolves critical problems or issues concerning several phases of security policy development and implementation of a variety of programs in physical security.
Manages projects that involve physical security measures and general security on and around the Capitol Complex. Participates along with US Capitol Police in security assessments on and off the Congressional campus and effectively communicates results.
Develops and presents project status reports for and to management. Reviews, recommends, and ensures consistent application of physical security measures, guidelines and enhancements.
Attends security vendor and industry showcases to research and learn about current and innovative security solutions, industry best practices and technology.
Liaises with Congressional staff / stakeholders, USCP and AOC to convey security requirements, improvements and enhancements.

Required to be available at all times for sudden recall in response to emergency events affecting the Senate campus / community and deployment to alternate locations for up to 30 days, as necessary.
Required Work Experience
3 - 5 years of experience in security project management.
Required Special Skills / Knowledge
- Knowledge of intrusion detection systems and devices, locks and locking systems, personnel entry control systems, ballistic protection measures, and asset protection.
- Ability to resolve conflicts between physical security requirements and organizational missions.
- Ability to adjust security systems for multiple and, sometimes, conflicting requirements.
- Ability to train staff in the need for observing security requirements.
- Ability to read and understand plans and engineering drawings and evaluate physical site / facility for potential security deficiencies to recommend security systems for implementation and installation by identified contractor.
- Ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate studies, special projects, and assignments.
- Ability to accurately prepare and process a variety of reports, records, and documents.
- Ability to analyze difficult and complex issues and make recommendations for action.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with Senate staff, local, state, and federal law enforcement and security agencies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and with a team to meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices and processes.
- Ability to obtain industry standard certifications in physical security and risk / vulnerability assessments.

Working Conditions
Sedentary with occasional walking, and safely carrying items under 25 pounds; may require long periods of standing.
Security Clearance
- This position requires that the applicant obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Government security clearance.
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens in order for the SAA to submit your application for a security clearance.
