Summary You will serve as a TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST in the INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY UNIT of MARCORPSBARRACKS. Responsibilities You will troubleshoot a wide range of telecommunications equipment, telephone, computer and other interface devices being used within the organization. You will support planned and ongoing automation and communications projects. You will be responsible for originating, coordinating and completing circuit actions in support of various networks and data communications systems. You will troubleshoot and maintain data communications lines and equipment to determine the source of errors, faulty circuits, and other induced problems. You will manage the installation, repair and maintenance of telephone switching systems, telephone subsets, telephone key systems, data transmission media systems circuitry, F-carrier, fiber-optic end equipment, modems and other equipment. You will install, test, troubleshoot, program, maintain and repair digital telephone central office switching equipment, attendant consoles, power and ringing equipment and other related equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance inspections on switching components, subcomponents, peripherals and other associated equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following : ability to install all modern cabling and wiring standards (i.e. fiber optic and category 6); designing, configuring, managing, and troubleshooting analog and digital voice services; planning and monitoring network capacity for the voice communication systems; providing technical support to users; and, monitoring and analyzing customer monthly usage.
