To be eligible to enlist in the U.S. Navy, candidates must be between the ages of 18-34.

These careers bring the expertise in all facets of Information Operations, ensuring our fleet capitalizes on the information vulnerabilities of our adversaries. Candidates seeking careers in this field should preferably have a degree focusing on areas of study such as international relations, political science, government, engineering, physical science, natural science, computer science, or other academic fields related to intelligence.

INTELLIGENCE AND INFORMATION SECURITY CAREERS IN THE NAVY

INTELLIGENCE OFFICER

Analyze top-secret information, interpret spy reports, and direct the analysis of top-secret satellite imagery. Use your keen analytical abilities to perceive patterns in internet chatter and ascertain the implications of the latest intelligence.

CRYPTOLOGIC WARFARE OFFICER

Create warfighting options for Fleet Commanders, advise decision-makers at all levels, and achieve military objectives in cyberspace. Your knowledge of the cyber battlespace is unmatched.

CYBER WARFARE ENGINEER

Research, design, develop, test, and evaluate software and firmware for Cyberspace Operations. Apply principles and techniques of computer science and computer engineering to defend our nation’s vital computer networks.

INFORMATION PROFESSIONAL OFFICER

Lead your team of Information Systems Technicians to ensure the delivery of communications capabilities by operating, maintaining, and securing our networks globally. Assist with top-secret cyberwarfare missions.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • U.S. citizen or equivalent
  • Must be eligible for a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance
  • General qualifications may vary depending upon whether you’re currently serving, previously served, or have never served.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Officers have opportunities to serve worldwide aboard ships, on bases, and in Joint Intelligence Centers such as the National Security Agency or the Pentagon.

    PART-TIME OPPORTUNITIES

    Part-time opportunities may be available. Serving part-time in the Navy Reserve, your duties will be carried out during your scheduled drilling and training periods.
