Your Role In Helping Us Shape The Future

U.S. News empowers everyone to thrive. We are seeking a sharp consumer banking analyst and reporter to empower consumers with the knowledge needed to make the best banking-related decisions.

The Consumer Banking Analyst and Reporter is responsible for writing insightful, actionable articles about banking, such as how to find the best savings account, the difference between APY and interest rate, how to switch banks, and ways to protect yourself from banking scams. You will also review banking articles and guides to ensure accuracy and demonstrate expertise to readers.

With the new presidential administration, there will likely be changes across the banking industry. You will translate and interpret policy decisions and explain what those decisions mean for consumers.

In addition, the consumer banking analyst and reporter will work with our PR team to make television, radio, and web appearances to promote and be the face of our banking guides and advice content. There could be opportunities for video and podcasting as well.

Strong writing and communication skills are required, and a banking and personal finance background is a must.

Are you up to the challenge?

  • Be a recognized subject matter expert in the banking field, as demonstrated through your writing samples, online profile, and media clips.
  • Be able to translate difficult or dense banking topics into easy-to-read and actionable articles.
  • Have your finger on the pulse of the financial services industry and can bring ideas for columns, surveys, and pitches as developments arise.
  • Flexible and have no problem handling last-minute or live media interviews.
  • Excited about helping to guide our banking advice content strategy.

This position involves working closely with an enthusiastic, highly collaborative team of editors, social media experts, and PR and communications professionals in a fast-paced digital environment.
