JOB SUMMARY
Primary responsibilities are to assist the OMS by providing pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative patient care. Additional responsibilities include the preparation and maintenance of the clinical facility to provide such care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care to OMS patients under the guidance of the OMS.
- Implement, document and monitor all infection control program standards.
- Maintain and monitor emergency preparedness. Participate in emergency preparedness training.
- Implement clinical record keeping/charting with the Practice standards.
- Participate in educational experiences based on identified clinical needs.
- Prepare and maintain the clinical facility in a manner to provide exceptional patient care.
- Initiate and implement changes to prevent occurrence, recurrence or continuation of unsafe conditions.
- Act as a resource to less experienced colleagues for current surgical assisting practices.
- Implement Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities. Assist with data collection within an established structured format.
- Communicate with management to assist in reallocating resources according to changing needs.
- Maintain good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approach conflict in a constructive manner. Help to identify problems, offer solutions and participate in their resolution.
- Maintain the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, doctors, employees and visitors to the Practice. Discusses patient, clinic and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriate private places.
- Participate fully with all compliance activities and takes responsibility for reporting improprieties to the proper management personnel.
- Assume responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of co-workers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
SUPLEMENTAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To be determined by management based on employee’s knowledge, experience, interest and expertise.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE
Completion of training program in medical/dental field or equivalent experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Current CPR license or willingness to complete within six months of hire.
Current anesthesia training or willingness to complete within one year of hire.
Nitrous oxide and radiology training.
Knowledge and ability to make critical decisions.
Interpersonal skills necessary to initiate and maintain collegial relationship with doctors and co-workers.
Analytical skills necessary to perform principal duties and responsibilities of job description.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Direct supervision is received from the immediate supervisor.
Overall supervision is received from the Director of Clinical Operations.
