POSITION PURPOSE:
The primary duties and responsibilities include the ability to read EOB’s, understand how to calculate insurance adjustments, post payments and adjustments, ID accounts for refunds, notify patients and support the health of the AR to achieve USOSM standards. Communicate with and support the other RCM staff, patients, partner practices and insurance companies to maximize reimbursement and ensure rapid account resolution.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Communicate with patients, practice partners and coworkers by answering telephone, emails messages and TEAMs messages to assist with any questions or apprehensions regarding balances, billing, collections and reimbursement.
- Processes all forms of payment, including, checks, credit cards, electronic funds transfers, and cash payments, sends proper notifications to patients and insurance companies.
- Retrieves and posts zero pays and payments collected from patients or insurance within 48 hours of receipt.
- Completes end of day closing for billing department of assigned practices, including updating patient billing category and insurance/patient balance buckets.
- Initiates or notifies the billing team of secondary insurance billing, insurance claim follows up and appeals.
- Creates contact notes and keeps thorough audit records in the proper locations.
- Communicates with practice on accounts needing discretionary adjustments posted.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by manager or director.

Previous Experience/Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a medical and /or dental environment
- An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods. Occasional lifting and bending to carry boxes and supplies, up to 25 pounds, may be required.
