Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented SEC Reporting Analyst to join our team in Houston. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing SEC filings while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Lead the SEC reporting process to include the preparation of Form 10-Qs, 10-Ks, Form 4s and 8-Ks with XBRL requirements.
- Support and manage annual proxy filings.
- Monitor and assess new accounting pronouncements applicable to the company and partner with stakeholders to analyze the impact.
- Research and document the Company’s technical accounting issues; present and resolve the Company’s positions for critical accounting issues with external auditors.
- Compose clear, concise, and informative written documents explaining complex financial data, accounting treatment, or significant transactions within a company's financial reports, typically directed to stakeholders like management or auditors, outlining key details and rationale behind the reporting decisions made.
- Go over all acquisition agreements for potential accounting considerations, valuation considerations etc.
- Perform the quarterly RNCI valuation and keep work always book up to date.
- Perform and lead the Company’s annual goodwill assessment.
- Be a trusted business partner and advisor to various stakeholders within Accounting, Finance, Legal, and other cross-functional teams.
- Take initiative for process improvements to scale and optimize the financial reporting process.
- Assist with the update of controls as needed including assessing any control gaps and changes in processes.
- Research and document the Company’s technical accounting issues; present and resolve the Company’s positions for critical accounting issues with external auditors.
- Coordinate audit support with external auditors.
- Support special projects and workflow process improvements.
- Be a critical thinker and problem solver.
- Have experience in SEC reporting and earnings release experience.
- Be a strong team player with a positive, service-oriented attitude and a strong incentive to learn.
- Have a strong technical accounting background with a knowledge of US GAAP, SOX 404, SEC reporting standards
- Have total experience of 4 - 5 years with a minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience.
- Bachelors in Accounting. CPA preferred.
- Have a proactive approach to problem identification and remediation solutions, and ability to communicate impactfully, including the ability to interact and build relationships across all levels of the organization
- Have the ability to work independently, complete work timely, and work well as a team member
- Have strong organization and problem-solving skills
- Have the ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem-solving environment
- Be meticulous and have superior attention to detail
