The Reliability Technician is considered the local expert on the equipment within their area of assignment and must either have demonstrated capability unique to the equipment or be capable of quickly assimilating new information to become an expert in a relatively short period of time. U.S. Pipe is seeking a Reliability Technician to join our team. The Reliability Technician is considered the local expert on the equipment within their area of assignment and must either have demonstrated capability unique to the equipment or be capable of quickly assimilating new information to become an expert in a relatively short period of time. Provides support to the maintenance department by training and mentoring hourly craft personnel, assist with the configuration and troubleshooting of the plant mechanical and electrical components.
Specific Responsibilities
- Mentor and lead technical skills development for the crafts persons and crew leaders in the department. Develop system specific training materials and use those materials to conduct formalized training and experiential learning in the field.
- Manage electrical and mechanical work orders, and contractors. Where applicable, be prepared to extend this training to other areas within the facility or the Company.
- Set an impeccable example with respect to safe behavior, adherence to Environmental, Safety, and Health policies, and activities linked to the performance of maintenance work without incident or injury.
- Champion a high-performance maintenance philosophy and implement the maintenance strategic plan to ensure cost effective asset management, long term equipment viability, and ongoing improvement of the maintenance systems and organization.
- Provide highly developed technical assistance to craftspeople and engineers during both planned and
- unplanned equipment service interruptions.
- Maintains, supports and documents computer and network hardware and software applications and operating systems.
- Troubleshoots electronics, electronic equipment controls, electrical distribution systems, mechanical
- components, overhead cranes, computer hardware and software, etc.
- Repairs/replaces defective computer components and network devices as needed.
- Apply root cause problem solving techniques to find and eliminate sources of recurring equipment failures.
- Use the established methods found within the U.S. Pipe Business System to coordinate problem solving activities.
- Maintain a working understanding of current technologies that have potential to improve the equipment or areas supported and provide input to capital project planning targeted at equipment improvement.
- Review the preventative and predictive maintenance systems to ensure that the defined activities are sufficient to identify potential sources of failure before failures occur.
- Develop technical documentation for processes and procedures in the area. (Work Instructions (WIP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Energy Isolation Checklists (EIC)).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have at least 3 - 5 years of industrial mechanical and electrical experience.
- The ability and willingness to work on any shift, and be on call, overtime, and weekends.
- Experience with both AC and DC power distribution.
- Proven self-direction and leadership abilities.
- Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate on all levels.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good presentation and public speaking skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meet all required deadlines.
- Strong sense of urgency in meeting customer needs.
- Good understanding of safety and the desire to follow all established procedures are required.
- Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- The employee will be working at times in an office environment (25%) and reminder of the time in a heavy industrial environment exposing the employee to Foundry operations.
- The employee will be exposed (75% of the time) to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust. Fumes, and Metallic Particles.
- The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, Walking, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Reaching, Talking, Seeing, Hearing and Sitting.
- The majority of the actions will be walking and standing.
