Location: San Antonio, Texas
The Executive Office of the United States District Clerk in San Antonio is currently accepting applications for the position of Financial Clerk. The financial clerk will perform a variety of accounting functions for the finance department of the Clerk’s Executive Office. The position involves extensive verbal and written communication with judicial officers, other court agencies, and judicial and clerical staff. The incumbent will report to the Administrative Manager. Position may allow for part-time telework.
Position Responsibilities:
- Audits and/or performs data entry of various voucher types submitted for payment.
- Imports, posts and records Cash Register receipt transactions.
- Establishes and maintains case and victim records.
- Keeps the Trial Balance of Deposit Funds reconciled.
- Prepares and reviews case payment vouchers and transfers.
- Monitors restitution activity and prepares monthly disbursements.
- Research case payments received for proper application to criminal debt accounts.
- Works with U.S. Attorney’s Office, U.S. Probation, and other government agencies to reconcile criminal debt accounts and case records.
- Researches and assesses necessary action for returned checks.
- Perform backup accounting tasks and other duties as assigned including data entry; filing; generating and reconciling automated reports; reconciling variances between account summaries; creating and maintaining computerized logs for various financial processes; analyzing and classifying accounting transactions
Minimum Qualifications:
- Position requires 2 years of current, progressively responsible financial experience in a court or corporate setting, to include a background in automated accounting and an understanding of accounting practices and procedures.
- Candidate must be detail oriented, highly organized, and have at least an intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word, and Windows based accounting applications.
- Proficient audit, data entry, math, and multi-tasking skills are required to meet deadlines and the demands of varying workloads under minimal supervision.
- Candidate must possess strong communication skills, both written and oral, in addition to a solid work ethic and the ability to exercise mature judgment.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting preferred.
