Duties
The selectee will serve as an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (NET/INF) in the IT Infrastructure Branch, Network Management Section. Typical work assignments include:
- Install, configure, operate, maintain, and manage networks and their firewalls, including hardware (e.g., hubs, bridges, switches, multiplexers, routers, cables, proxy servers, and protective distributor systems) and software that permit the sharing and transmission of all spectrum transmissions of information to support the security of information and information systems.
- Test, implements, deploy, maintain, review, and administer the infrastructure hardware and software that are required to effectively manage the computer network defense service provider network and resources.
- Use defensive measures and information collected from a variety of sources to identify, analyze, and report events that occur or might occur within the network to protect information, information systems, and networks from threats.
- Utilize data collected from a variety of cyber defense tools (e.g., IDS alerts, firewalls, network traffic logs) to analyze events that occur within their environments for the purposes of mitigating threats.
- Analyze identified malicious activity to determine weaknesses exploited, exploitation methods, effects on system and information.

Qualifications

Basic Requirement: Possess information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies:
- Attention to Detail - Being thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
- Customer Service - Work with clients and customers to ensure systems and services meet security requirements and incorporate current technology.
- Oral Communication - Persuade others to cooperate in meeting security compliance objectives; and
- Problem Solving - Isolating and defining unprecedented security issues or conditions, resolving critical problems in enterprise-wide systems, or developing new approaches and techniques for use by others.

Minimum Qualifications:
You qualify for the GS-14 level (starting salary $142,488.00) if you possess the following:
Applicants must demonstrate one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-13 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
- Configuring, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and operating switching, routing and firewall Information Technology Network infrastructure;
- Performing work in the integration of Voice Over IP (VOIP) applications and technology with enterprise network architecture.
- Participating in the design and support Session Initiation Protocol, (SIP)-based VOIP telephone systems.
- Interfacing with Telecom service providers to ensure delivery, operation, and sustainment of telephone/network services AND
- Maintaining knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services and experience with the Juniper product line of network gear.
