During our 121-year history, we have developed core competencies in mining, processing, logistics and materials science that enable us to produce and cost-effectively deliver over 400 diversified product types to customers across our end markets. As of December 31, 2020, we operated 23 production facilities across the United States. We control 489 million tons of reserves of commercial silica, which can be processed to make 197 million tons of finished products that meet American Petroleum Institute ("API") frac sand specifications, and 79 million tons of reserves of diatomaceous earth, perlite, and clays.

The primary function of the maintenance mechanic is to install, maintain, and repair all equipment, machinery, and facilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

• Perform all tasks in a safe manner. Be a role model and advocate for safety among co-workers
• Perform all tasks in an environmentally responsible manner
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks as assigned
• Perform general maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisor
• Complete routine paper and/or computer work (work orders, work hours, parts, etc.)
• Uses typical mechanic’s tools, equipment, and inspection gauges
• Works from drawings, verbal instructions or sketches, and JDE work order systems
• Uses shop math on a routine basis
• Cleans debris and lubricant from parts, work area and equipment
• Clean parts, tools and working area
• Work on-call as required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3 – 5 years of general experience as a maintenance mechanic, preferably in a manufacturing setting
• Valid driver’s license
• Mechanical aptitude
• Basic computer skills (entering work hours, work orders, parts usage, etc.)
• Forklift, man lift, and scissor lift experience preferred; not required
• Electrical experience preferred; not required
• Comply with all corporate policies and the Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) while working.
• Strong attention to detail
• Possess an excellent safety record
• Consistently at work and on time.
• Meet schedules and deadlines on time
• Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment
• Ability to work varying shifts
• Ability to work on-call as required.
• Work overtime as needed.
