The primary role of the heavy equipment operator is to ensure the safe flow of material is maintained from the mine to the raw clay storage building.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operator Equipment Smoothly, Safely and Efficiently and Follow Mining Plans
- Accountable for managing ownership area (Haul Truck Operators – Haul Road Condition), (Excavator Operators – Pit Area around Excavator including spotting of Trucks), (Dozer Operator – Dump area)
- Complete All Required Reports Accurately and Timely Including - PRE-SHIFT Inspections, Area Examinations, Operator Equipment Report.
- Support and Move Safety Culture Forward by immediately reporting Hazards, Conduct SLAM prior to performing each task, Performing BBS Observations, following safety Procedures and participating in Tail Gate Meetings.
- Task Train and/or train co-workers on equipment.
- Follow Environmental Policies including reporting/controlling spills, installing and maintaining BMP’s, Taking Water Samples as necessary, and treating low PH water.
- In addition to the above, tasks and projects may be added on a temporary or permanent basis as deemed necessary by management.
EDUCATION:
- Minimum of high school education or equivalent
- Previous training and certification on equipment a plus
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- CDL license is a plus but not required
- Must be willing to work all areas of mine department as needed
- Knowledge and operation of heavy equipment
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Must be willing to work in a hot, cold, dusty and noisy environment
