Installs, maintains and repairs machinery, equipment and pipe and electrical systems in industrial environments by performing the following duties.
Essential Job Functions:
- Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings and piping diagrams.
- Must have good pipe fitting skills on both threaded and welded joints on all types of pipes.
- Must have good metal fabrication skills.
- Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses machine variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machines.
- Must possess good mechanical skills to dismantle defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
- Lays out and assembles/installs and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
- Set up and operate machine tools, such as, lathe, grinder, drill and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
- Must be able to operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts (i. e. welding, burning and fitting), including stick electrode welding, brazing or gas welding and be able to operate plasma arc torch.
- Must perform field repair work with minimum supervision.
- With the aid of other mechanical crafts, must be able to complete projects in a satisfactory manner in a minimum amount of time.
- Must be able to perform all the functions of a No. 2 Repairman.
- Must accept overtime when required by company and must accept emergency “call outs”.
- Responsible to meet site safety requirements and quality and food/feed safety requirements.
- Must have own hand tools.
- Must pass a job specific “hands on” test.
- Other similar duties, as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- High School Education, Trade School or military training.
- Must pass job specific test for position.
- 30-days training allowed per contract with job bid.
- MSHA Part 46 training about safety and site-specific hazards of the job (24 hours).
