Position Description
U.S. Soccer is looking for an Educator Developer – Coaching Education Pathway (Grassroots to C License level) to lead the design, delivery, and quality assurance of coaching education for the foundational stages of the coaching pathway. This role is vital in ensuring that new and developing coaches have access to high-quality, accessible, and aligned educational experiences. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with internal departments, member organizations, and Coach Educators to grow the game through grassroots education that reflects the “US Way’ methodology.
This individual will report into the Director of Coaching Education, and work closely with the Sporting Department, Soccer Growth team, and Product team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development: Design, develop, and manage course curriculum for US Soccer’s Grassroots to C Licenses, ensuring content is modern, evidence-based, and aligned with best practices in coaching education.
- Coach Educator Development: Train, mentor, and evaluate Coach Educators through structured workshops, assessments, and ongoing professional development.
- Quality Assurance & Delivery: Maintain high educational standards across both online and in-person course formats through Educator training, course evaluations, and collaboration with the Coach Education department.
- Grassroots Strategy & Accessibility: Collaborate with internal departments, member organizations, and stakeholders to develop and implement a national grassroots coaching education strategy that improves accessibility for aspiring coaches across the country.
- Project & Stakeholder Management: Lead initiatives that enhance coaching education pathways by working across departments (e.g., Sporting, Soccer Growth, and Product) to align resources, improve delivery models, and ensure effective program implementation.
- Methodology Alignment: Work closely with the Sporting Department to ensure course content reflects the "US Way," fostering a cohesive methodology across all levels.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Coaching Certification: Minimum U.S. Soccer A License required
- Education: Master’s degree in one of the following fields: Sport Coaching, Sport Management (with Coaching Focus), High-Performance Coaching or Sport Science, or Education (Coaching or Adult Learning focus)
- Coaching & Leadership Experience: Minimum of 10 years in coaching and/or technical leadership within a Federation or Club
- Expertise Areas: Deep understanding of player development, training methodology, and performance analysis.
- Project & Stakeholder Management: Experience in project management, leading staff, and collaborating across departments to execute strategic initiatives.
- Big-Picture Thinking: Ability to connect micro-level details with the broader vision and mission of US Soccer’s coaching education initiatives.
- Technology Proficiency: Experience with learning management systems (LMS), performance analysis software, and digital course content development tools.
- Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments.
- Must be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and mission.
- Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
- General knowledge of soccer.
