Position Description

Reporting to the Director of Safeguarding Operations, the Safeguarding Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the operations of the Safeguarding Team with an emphasis on prevention, education, and compliance. They will work closely with the Director of Safeguarding Operations, VP of Safeguarding Prevention & Education, and members of the Response and Resolution Team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as a key contributor to the overall operational roadmap for the USSF Safeguarding Strategy and Priorities
  • Support the implementation of programs directed at fostering safe environments for play, including the Safe Soccer Clearance Program
  • Contribute to the development and management of departmental key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Manage training logistics, including scheduling, securing speakers as needed, and setting up tech platforms
  • Correspond with members to promote the webinars, distribute relevant materials, and handle registration
  • Follow up with participants post-webinar by providing resources, answering questions, and ensuring continued engagement
  • Manage the technology requirements, coordinating the platform and facilitators to ensure smooth delivery, oversee breakout rooms, and address any technical issues during live sessions
  • Disseminate updates to members regarding safeguarding initiatives, ensuring they have the most up-to-date information on requirements, deadlines, and best practices
  • Track and respond to queries from members, providing guidance and resolving any concerns efficiently to maintain transparency and trust in the program
  • Delegation compliance and ad hoc internal Safeguarding compliance

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S./B.A. or Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience required
  • 1 year of experience working in an operations/coordinator role
  • Must have a strong belief in fostering safer environments for play
  • Preference for someone with safeguarding experience and familiarity with governing USOPC, FIFA, and USCSS policies
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, emotional intelligence, discretion, and a high level of confidentiality
  • Able to identify behavior that is harmful to players, at-risk participants, and vulnerable populations.
  • Experience supporting program design and delivery that drive results against priority objectives
  • Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments
  • Ability to deliver high quality work and execute under pressure/deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for the sport of soccer
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Able and willing to travel, as necessary
  • Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends, if necessary
  • General knowledge of soccer
  • Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments
  • Must be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and mission
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)

Desired Qualifications

  • Passion for athlete safety.
  • Can work independently, while coordinating and communicating with other members of the of the office.
  • Can manage multiple, co-current tasks.
  • Has advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish); knowledge of other languages is beneficial.
