Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Community Engagement will lead efforts to build meaningful relationships between U.S. Soccer and the communities we serve. This role focuses on increasing visibility, fostering connection, and delivering programs that reflect our commitment to inclusion, equity, and belonging. The ideal candidate is a connector, a collaborator, and a passionate advocate for community-centered engagement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Community Engagement Strategy: Develop and execute strategies to increase U.S. Soccer’s visibility and presence in local communities, particularly around the National Training Center and in key markets.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, schools, nonprofits, and other local stakeholders to foster collaboration and trust.
- Program Implementation: Plan and execute events, initiatives, and activations that engage diverse communities and align with U.S. Soccer’s values and strategic priorities.
- Internal Collaboration: Partner with teams across the organization (e.g., Commercial, Soccer Forward, Communications) to ensure alignment and support for community initiatives.
- Employee Engagement: Facilitate opportunities for employee volunteerism and staff participation in community events and service projects.
- Resource Coordination: Manage relationships with vendors, partners, and community liaisons to support programming needs and logistics.
- Support Evaluation Efforts: Collaborate with the Soccer Forward Foundation and internal teams to provide relevant data and stories that contribute to broader impact measurement.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Community Development, Public Affairs, or a related field
- 5 years of experience in community engagement, outreach, or public programming
- General knowledge of soccer
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse communities
- Experience managing or supporting community events or programs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and manage multiple priorities
- Must be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and mission
- Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in sports, nonprofit, or public-sector environments
- Familiarity with Atlanta and/or U.S. Soccer’s key community markets
- Spanish or multilingual fluency is a plus
- Knowledge of good practices in inclusive and culturally responsive community engagement
