Physical Requirements

This position requires a high level of physical stamina and mobility to perform daily tasks efficiently. Employees must be able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout their shift, as sitting opportunities are minimal. The role involves lifting and carrying heavy objects, such as stock, food items, equipment, and cleaning supplies, often weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling are required to access low storage areas, clean floors, and retrieve supplies, while reaching and stretching are necessary for stacking inventory and handling kitchen equipment. Additionally, employees must be capable of pushing and pulling heavy carts, racks, and food service equipment, as well as performing repetitive movements associated with dishwashing, mopping, and restocking. The job also requires working in variable temperatures, transitioning between the hot kitchen environment and cold storage areas such as walk-in refrigerators and freezers. Dexterity is essential, as employees must use their hands and fingers skillfully to operate kitchen tools, handle food items, and use cleaning equipment. Given these physical demands, individuals in this role must maintain endurance, strength, and coordination to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient working environment.

Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental Factors

This position works in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment that requires adaptability to various conditions. The role involves exposure to hot and humid temperatures from ovens, grills, and dishwashing areas, as well as cold conditions when working in refrigerators, freezers, and stock storage spaces. The work environment includes wet and slippery surfaces, requiring caution to prevent slips and falls, and loud noise levels from kitchen equipment, dishwashers, and general dining area activity. Employees frequently operate in tight or confined spaces, especially in kitchen prep and storage areas. Additionally, the position requires handling strong odors from food preparation, cleaning chemicals, and waste disposal. Given these conditions, maintaining safety protocols and proper hygiene is essential to ensuring a functional and efficient workspace.

Expected Hours of Work

This position typically requires flexible work hours, depending on the operational needs of the organization. Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as food service and stock management often extend beyond regular business hours. Employees should be prepared for overtime or extended hours during high-demand periods, special events, or seasonal peaks. The ability to work a consistent yet flexible schedule is essential to meeting the needs of the kitchen and stock operations.
