Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

  • Provide advanced practice clinical nursing, administrative and organizational skills in managing the continuity of care for the beneficiary populations.
  • Provide oversight and input to nursing practice matters.
  • Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
  • Encourages appropriate use of healthcare services and strives to improve quality of care and maintain cost effectiveness.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% or less of the time.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
  • This job may on occasion entail evening and weekend duty.
  • This job may entail occasional visits to patient's home or other treatment facilities CONUS and OCONUS as part of case management function.
  • Must have and maintain a BSN with a national certification in Nurse Case Management with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
  • Incumbent is subject to psychological screening, polygraph examination, and urinalysis testing.
  • In accordance with Change 3 of AR 690-85, alcohol and drug abuse prevention program, the incumbent of this position must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This is an Inclement Weather Essential position : Incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and / or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • DOD civilian personnel hired on or after 1 Jan 97 and with duties involving direct patient contact, are subject to complete a series of three immunizations against Hepatitis.
  • Incumbent will be required to use personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer.
  • Incumbent must have and maintain a Registered Nursing License and Basic Life Support Certification.
  • This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.     Basic Requirement for Nurse (Clinical / Case Management) :

    Degree : A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note : You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).

    Licensure : A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.

    Foreign Degree : A degree from a Foreign Nursing School. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.

    Exemption : You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Applicants claiming this exemption must meet the requirement below. Note : You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

    Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.

    Active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

    In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below :
