The General Labor position, known internally as "Utility Person," is an entry level job and an essential part of our workforce. The General Laborer may perform a variety of tasks such as:
Applying compound and protective plastic caps to threaded pipe.
Coating the finished threads.
Labelling pipe with identifying information.
Operating small mobile equipment, such as forklifts.
And various other general labor tasks such as stacking wood for pipe rack storage.
Pay is $18.14 with advancement opportunities up to $32.88. Along with pay, a Quarterly Incentive Bonus Plan. U. S. Steel offers a very competitive benefit package for Health, Dental, Life Insurance, 401K, Paid Vacation, 10 Paid Holidays, Daily Overtime Pay, etc.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED.
The ability to work an industrial schedule including overtime (rotating or fixed 8-hour shift work, which will include Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays).
Adherence to safety procedures/guidelines at all times.
Work with and around materials that may be hot, heavy or sharp, and hazardous chemicals.
Ability to perform manual labor and lift in excess of 25 lbs.
