Position Summary: The Harvesting Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the harvesting team, ensuring efficient, safe, and timely harvesting of crops during the season. The role requires strong leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high performance standards. Due to the nature of the role, the supervisor must be flexible and willing to work long hours, including night shifts for four months and day shifts for the following four months during the crop season. Proficiency in Spanish is a mandatory requirement to ensure effective communication with employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate daily harvesting operations to meet production goals.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and operation of harvesting equipment.
  • Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, addressing any issues promptly.
  • Supervise and motivate a diverse team of employees to perform at their best.
  • Provide training, coaching, and support to team members, ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and updates.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure all employees follow company policies.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify and mitigate safety risks.
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Maintain flexibility to adjust schedules as needed based on operational demands.
  • Track and document operational progress, employee performance, and equipment usage.
  • Prepare reports on harvesting metrics and submit them to management regularly.

Job Requirements:

  • Bilingual Proficiency in Spanish (required).
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in agriculture, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience in agriculture or harvesting operations is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work long hours during the season, including alternating shifts.
  • Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations in the agricultural sector.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to train others and document processes clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in outside weather conditions on a regular basis
  • Working conditions may be rainy, hot, humid, dusty, etc. depending on the weather
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
  • Duties of this job are also performed in an office environment
  • Employee is also required to drive a vehicle for extended time periods

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle and/or move various objects, tools and/or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, talk, hear, and see
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to freely access all areas of the including farm offices, tractor sheds, various farm/harvesting equipment, etc.
  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run harvesting ops
  • Ability to move or handle various items throughout the farm generally weighing between 0-65 pounds. Ability to lift and carry up to 65 pounds.
