What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Nurse position at U.S. Sugar?
Provide Occupational Health Care Services according to the U.S. Sugar Health & Safety Program. Coordinate medical services required for the safety and potential placement of employees, the treatment of work-related illnesses and injuries, and approved industrial preventative medical programs.
- Determine real and potential health problems and hazards.
- Assist in the development and implementation of programs to deal with identified health problems and hazards.
- Verify health programs comply with federal, state and local regulations.
- Evaluate and monitor outcomes.
- Develop professional rapport with employees and management.
- Promote and facilitate continuity of care.
- Assist the employee in selecting appropriate and cost-effective health care resources.
- Provide superior nursing care in a professional manner using all available resources.
- Provide clinical care for work-related injuries and illnesses, including initial assessment, treatment, and follow-up.
- Conduct regular health screenings and wellness programs for employees.
- Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure adherence to all company and other safety, health, and environmental protocols and regulations.
- Collaborate with the Safety Manager to develop and implement health programs and policies.
- Assist in training employees on preventive health measures and safe work practices.
- Coordinate with external healthcare providers and emergency services as needed.
- Provide physical examinations and classifications to assist management in the proper and safe placement of new and transferred employees and employees returning from leave of absence. .
- Provide for the timely treatment of work-related injuries; assists the Safety Department in administering Workers Compensation claims and observing Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) Regulations. .
- Provide guidance counsel and training to management and employees on medical matters, which affect efficient operations. .
- Maintain required. medical records in a confidential manner; prepares reports and statistics as required. by management. .
- Council and assist employees in identifying the need for and seeking outside medical assistance and to meet physical and emotional needs. .
- Maintain appropriate inventories of medical and first aid supplies safely and securely, and ensures that all required. licenses are up to date.
- Collaborate and assist in the collection and processing of alcohol and drug program.
- Occasional after hours and weekend assignments based on business needs.
- Explore with management ways to promote wellness.

Job Requirements:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license; Occupational Health Nurse certification preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in an occupational or industrial healthcare setting.

- Excellent clinical assessment and treatment skills.
- Proficiency in maintaining medical records and documentation.
