As an Admitting Clerk, you play a crucial role in the patient's journey. You are responsible for receiving reservations, verifying insurance, inputting data, and admitting inpatients, emergency room patients, and ambulatory surgery patients. This is a registration position that works in the Emergency Department.
General Duties & Responsibilities
- Enters reservation information into the computer registration system in an accurate and efficient manner
- Verifies all patient insurance information, including authorizations and precepts
- Records if the patient has a deductible or co-pay on the patient file folder and in the computer system
- Follows proper armband placement procedure
- Notifies patients, upon admission, of patients' rights
Qualifications
- Must be able to type 6000 keystrokes/hour.
- Operate CRT and other office equipment.
- Previous experience in hospital admitting and knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding is desirable.
- Must communicate effectively with the public and others and maintain confidentiality.
