ANIMAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN I

The Animal Resources Program (ARP) seeks an Animal Laboratory Technician I in the Animal Lab. Animal Lab Technicians are responsible for the husbandry of all animals used in ongoing research projects at UAB. This role is critical for the university to achieve standard care of animals used in research. Job is an apprenticeship in laboratory animal technology. Provides training and experience toward acquiring competence in caring for laboratory animals of different species and specialized colonies. Receives continuous training and experience towards acquiring competence in caring for laboratory animals of different species and specialized colonies (i.e. pathogen free, germ free, and biohazard, etc.)

Hourly Wage : $15.00 (non-negotiable)

High School diploma or GED required

Preferred Qualifications

• Candidate has good communication skills
• Candidate is a self-starter with a good work ethic
• Candidate is in good physical condition with the ability to lift 50 or more pounds

Note: This position will require TB and drug testing for external candidates
