The Temporary Certified Medical Assistant Position at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) requires strong clinical skills, the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
To assist physician or other healthcare team member with completion of treatment/protocol. To perform simple, non-invasive patient procedures according to applicable policy and/or protocol.
May perform various clerical and/or lab duties as requested.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics
Some experience in patient care is preferred
Must be able to recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality
Ability to multi-task
Must be self-directed/self-motivated
Must have good communication and interpersonal skills
Must be able to perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure

Education
Currently certified as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Health career Association (NHA) required.
