What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Decision Support Analyst position at UAB Health System?
Reporting to the CFO, the Decision Support Analyst is responsible for a variety of projects concerning the operations of the hospital. The Decision Support Analyst will work closely with Senior Administration to provide in-depth analysis and recommendation of major business/operation/financial decisions. The analyst will be responsible for creating and maintaining reports from multiple information systems used by CEH. Creates, researches and analyzes data not readily available for complex decisions such as strategic planning/marketing, employee/departmental productivity.

- Ability to program in computer language(s) to extract data preferred.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs data analyses including, but not limited to cost/benefit analyses, financial analyses or feasibility studies using statistical techniques.
- Serves as liaison among Sr. Management and Department Managers for data capture, process flow, and analysis to aid decisions
- related to efficiencies, effectiveness, process redesign.
- Presents summary data to Sr. Management, Department Managers, Medical Staff, Board of Directors, etc. in order to facilitate appropriate business decisions.
- Assists hospital personnel in identifying and implementing areas in which tasks should be computerized to improve effectiveness, efficiencies and data capture.
- Responsible for design and maintenance of hospital cost accounting system
- Ability to extract information from in-house systems for use in analysis.
- Serves as "in house" expert to either create/or assist in creating Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, Access Databases, and other statistical software.
- Remains confidential about financial, patient, and payroll information
- Assists in or assures integrity of data generated from systems.
Degree in Business Administration or Finance with a heavy concentration in Statistical and Operational Analysis.
Preferences
- Experience in healthcare field preferable.
