PROJECT MANAGER-HSOM FACILITIES

To facilitate development of renovations to larger, complex building programs for the School of Medicine (SOM). To communicate project requirements and make recommendations. To monitor project design and construction of projects as required, including soliciting proposals, consideration of contract requirements and working with other UAB Departments, vendors, architects, engineers, etc. To assist in selection of architects for projects. To communicate and coordinate project design and construction activities with University Administration/clients and to prepare project information required for UAB Administration/Board of Trustees including status reports, project summaries, project planning reports, etc. To identify, research, and prepare applications for funding for government grants for planning projects. To provide relocation coordination, audio/visual specifications, program development, basis of design, facility agent, emergency management and maintain laboratory standards. To provide backup to other facilities team members. To understand, explain and translate equipment specifications and requirements into space plan(s). To provide utilization analysis and recommendation. To effectively communicate with all appropriate stakeholders about construction and facilities related issues.

Duties:

1. Provides direction and oversight of project scope, budgets, processes and schedules on multiple large capital projects ranging from small renovations to planning, design and construction of large buildings.
2. Communicates project requirements and makes recommendations throughout the project as required
3. Monitors project design and construction of projects as required, including soliciting proposals, consideration of contract requirements and working with other UAB Departments, vendors, architects, engineers, etc. To assist in selection of architects for projects.
4. Identifies, researches and prepares applications for funding for government grants for planning projects
5. Coordinates and guides the design firm and construction contractor selection process for all capital projects.
6. Performs other duties as assigned

Salary: $67,070 - $108,990

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Building Science or a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
