Position Summary:
As a Researcher, you will play a key role in driving scientific discovery by independently leading and executing research projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage project timelines, and contribute to grant writing and securing funding for future research. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research participant contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
Position plays a key role in driving scientific discovery by independently leading and executing research projects. Conduct experiments in support of CF research, including isolation and quantification of DNA, transformations, cloning of plasmid vectors, and protein extraction from various tissues (primarily ferrets). Provide technical training to new personnel. This professional-level position demands a high degree of expertise and judgement in designing studies, analyzing data, and may involve assistants in publishing findings. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage project timelines, and contribute to grant writing and securing funding for future research.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides technical support by performing complex research related tasks.
- Conduct experiments including isolation and quantification of DNA, transformations, cloning of plasmid vectors, running PCR and RT-PCR, and performing TOPO clones. DNA, RNA, and protein extraction from various tissues (primarily ferrets) and blood using a kit or manually Purification of DNA, DNA cloning, mutagenesis (CRISPR/Cas9 mutagenesis functional analysis) and sequencing analysis
- Acts as a subject matter expert on research methods and equipment functions.
- Provide technical training to new personnel, including isolation and quantification of DNA, transformations, cloning of plasmid vectors, running PCR, IFA, ELISA and cell culture and so on.
- Performs a variety of tests requiring a high degree of proficiency.
- Conduct additional experiments in primary airway cell culture, cell line culture and maintenance, Histochemical /Immunofluorescence technique; tissue collection, embedding, cryosection, and data analysis.
- Proficiency in various molecular cloning operations including PCR, Real-Time PCR, molecular clone, transfection, SDS-PAGE, Westernblotting, Southern-blotting, etc.
- May also conduct Flow Cytometry for transduction efficiency and airway cell differentiation analysis and Virus production and quantification using the qPCR technique
- Evaluates study results using statistical and multivariate analysis, may involve assistance in publishing findings.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: $50,050 - $68,780
Master's degree in a related field OR Bachelor's degree in related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Associate's degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience required or High School diploma or GED and six (6) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
