Systems Administrator I - Facilities
The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.
Description
Primarily IT support regarding the Facilities building automation system. Assists in the implementation and maintenance of the department IT infrastructure stack including hardware, hypervisor, guest operating systems, and run time environments. Troubleshoots technical issues and ensures system security and efficiency.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Implements and maintains building automation platform. Components include hardware, network configuration, virtual machine configuration, guest operating systems, and run time environments.
Installs, configures, and manages virtual host clusters, SAN, backup system, and other server infrastructure.
Plans and implements system security policy including firewall configurations, file permissions, user access control, group policy, and compliance with university data security policies.
Troubleshoots networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems. Provides on-call consulting advice and technical support to various users/client organizations regarding specific operational/applications issues.
Performs other duties as assigned
Independent Judgement/Problem Solving
Performs duties with general supervision, using established procedures. Occasionally uses independent judgment to solve problems and may recommend improvements. Unusual problems are reported to the supervisor. Occasionally performs the tasks of those under supervision.
Customer Service Relationships
Needs moderate communication skills to understand and address customer requests. Acknowledges and clarifies inquiries or complaints.
STARTING ANNUAL RATE OF PAY: $55,180.00 - $75,000.00 (Commensurate with experience & qualifications)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in a related field is required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
Note: Hybrid Eligible, after training/probationary period
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATIONS:
Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver's license, issued in
the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Comfortable in a Windows environment and remote server administration tools
Knowledge of virtualization
Leadership and supervisory skills
Knowledge of security best practices
Familiarity with Microsoft products for communication and organization
Ability to think critically and problem-solve under stressful situations
Written and verbal communication skills Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications
PERSONAL: Required to possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities that require bending, stooping, kneeling, walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus, frequent traveling, prolonged standing, climbing stairs, and sitting at computer for long periods of time.
