Duties
To conduct business requirements reviews, technical systems specifications and systems process analysis. To develop detailed selection evaluation criteria. To analyze and re-engineer business processes using industry standard tools and methods with understanding of the technical and business environments. To partner with business process experts to learn and understand problems with software. To develop innovative IT solutions for risky and demanding business situations.
Primary Responsibilities
Aid in the layout and design of new equipment and communications systems as they relate to Nurse Call and other connected systems/devices such as Patient Entertainment and Information Systems (eVideon Vibe).
Diagnoses and corrects equipment failure and malfunctions; modifies equipment to ensure full and proper usage of systems and equipment.
Aids in the documentation of all Nurse Call and other connected systems/devices installed and ensures best practices are followed in the configuration and scheduling of routine backups.
Ensures UPS Systems are always maintained and functional.
Consult with users prior to performing assigned service requests to ensure accuracy of work.
Assist customers with routine questions. Train customers on Nurse Call and other connected systems/devices operating procedures for all aspects of the installed systems. This may include running reports and other functional aspects of the Nurse Call and other connected systems/devices.
Performs troubleshooting of pillow speakers, patient stations, staff consoles, duty stations and other peripheral devices.
Experience pulling Cat3, 5, 5e, 6 or other low voltage cabling. This requires a thorough knowledge of the wiring color code. Must be knowledgeable of the various wiring standards. Performs troubleshooting on various Nurse Call and other connected systems/devices as needed. Perform moves and changes on Nurse Call and other connected systems/devices equipment as needed.
Resolve, repair, and install fiber optic equipment if necessary, ensuring they work properly. Examine and replace faulty and/or old fiber jumpers as needed.
Install, program, and troubleshoot Cisco Switches related to the Nurse Call systems.
Collaborate with various IT Teams to integrate Nurse Call and other connected systems/devices systems into network and server infrastructure.
Assists with installing hardware, associated patch panels and running patch cables as needed. Must also assist in performing upgrades and troubleshoot problems as they arise.
Must be able to work overtime as needed, travel locally as needed, work on-call as needed and perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Associates degree in Information System or related field and four (4) years of related work experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
Ability to punch down cross connects on both 66 and 110 blocks.
Ability to tone cables using a toner/probe.
Must be a highly detailed oriented individual with proven project management skills.
Experience integrating the Nurse Call with other connected systems/devices such as Patient Entertainment and Information Systems (eVideon Vibe).
Ascom - Telligence Nurse Call training and/or certification.
Ascom - Unite training and/or certification.
Directly related experience supporting a Nurse Call system/network.
Basic electronics training.
Experience setting up, programming, and testing of hospital TV's.
Low Voltage Wiring training.
Windows certification.
Linux certification.
Experience with SQL.
Ability to lift and install equipment into network equipment racks.
Available for afterhours on call support.
