What are the responsibilities and job description for the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner - NNP - NICU position at UAB St. Vincent's?

In need of someone who is willing to work 24-hour shifts. The NP will be responsible for overseeing and collaborating with the care team to create a plan of care for acutely ill neonates. Neonatal Nurse Practioner NNP certification through NCC Required. Master's required.
What You Will Do
In collaboration with a physician, provide for the expansion of individualized primary healthcare services by diagnosing and treating certain acute or chronic health conditions.
- Obtain patient history and perform assessment via observation, interview and examination. Order, perform and interpret diagnostic studies. Perform preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.
- Provide direct treatment and management of health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
- Counsel and educate patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
- Document delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.
What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
- Certified Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hiredate or job transfer date.
- Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration preferred.
Education:
- Master's degree of Nursing required.
Additional Preferences
Must have at least one (1) year NP NICU experience.
