Group Controller

UB Associates, Inc provide administrative support to the Jacobs School of Medicine at the University at Buffalo and UBMD Physicians Group. They cover many areas including compliance, accounting, and legal services.

We are looking for a FULL TIME Group Controller

Title: Group Controller

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Salary Range: $100,000 to $120,000

Position Summary:

The Group Controller will be a member of the UBMD financial leadership team and will work with the management team in the Finance and Business Operations for UBMD (UBA/UB Associates) as well as for select UBMD practices. The Group Controller will assist with the preparation of financial statements, budget reports, and internal control systems within various UBMD practices. The assistant controller's duties also include managing payroll, accounts payable/receivable, maintaining general ledger, reconciling accounts, budgeting/forecasting and assisting with financial audits. Must be able to work independently and with the highest levels of integrity.

Essential Functions:

⮚ Preparing and consolidating financial statements and reports.

⮚ Preparing monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports.

⮚ Assisting with the development and evaluation of budgets and preparing budget reports.

⮚ Supporting the formulation and implementation of control systems within the organization.

⮚ Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, identifying discrepancies, and reconciling accounts.

⮚ Supporting the accounting department with all aspects of the general ledger.

⮚ Preparing and managing accounts using various software programs.

⮚ Preparing and assisting with audits.

⮚ Reconcile bank accounts.

⮚ Track and record fixed asset transactions.

⮚ Oversees 1099 preparation and remittance.

⮚ Contributes to various projects/business case analysis as needed.

⮚ Adheres to HIPAA and confidentiality policies and procedures.

⮚ Ensures an efficient and accurate work flow in the department.

Other Functions:

⮚ Reviews company email on at least a daily basis in order to receive and address notifications and/or other pertinent information in a timely manner.

⮚ Any other duties as requested or assigned by the senior financial management as well as UBMD practice presidents.

⮚ May be required to travel to other location(s) dependent on company need.

⮚ Work hours may fluctuate depending on company needs.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on Excel. Experience with Great Plains accounting applications is a plus. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills required. Strong attention-to-detail skills, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills essential. Must be able to manage accounting staff as well as departmental workflow.
