JOB SUMMARY: The Strategy and Performance Management Analyst reports to UBA America CFO and is responsible for providing support to the CFO and Executive Management Team to deliver on strategic aspirations of UBA America. The incumbent of this position shall be responsible for adhering to the provisions stated in the Employee Accountability Policy Statement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES*

  1. Strategic Management
  • Drive the process of preparing and completing the Annual Strategic Business Plan of the bank under the guidance of the CEO and CFO before the end of every financial year.
  • Gather, analyze and provide market and economic data that will serve as input into the bank’s Strategic Business Plan.
  • Develop, cascade and monitor the implementation of financial and non-financial strategy work plans/Activity plans from the Strategic Business Plan (SBP) of the bank.
  • Drive the development of business targets and strategic initiatives for the achievement of the bank’s corporate financial and non-financial goals and objectives
  • Maintain up to date record of the implementation status of the bank’s Strategic Business Plan and the UBA America related Action Points from the Group’s Strategy Session
  • Coordinate the process of the periodic (Annual/Quarterly) review of the bank’s Strategic Business Plan.
  • Continuously review the Bank’s operating model for effectiveness and drive high-level organizational alignment in the Bank to eliminate duplications and redundancies
  • Define and implement high impact transformational initiatives that deliver tangible and quantifiable business results in the Bank
  • Derive and implement business insights from regular rigorous economic & environmental assessment including for the purpose of strategic planning and management decision making
  • Manage Success Transfer in UBA America (i.e. ensure high impact business and operational initiatives in the Branch, are harvested on a real-time basis, leveraging on technology, and implemented in all other relevant business areas within UBAA.
  • Provide Strategic Issue Resolution with high impact and quantifiable business results.
  1. Performance Management
  • Design and manage the Bank’ business performance management system
  • Create real-time availability of business performance information for all business and functional areas of the Branch in relations to revenue generation, cost management and overall profitability.
  • Provide regular business performance analysis and competitor performance benchmarking to support decision making for business leaders.
  • Ensure Business and sales staff productivity through SBU performance drive and support to Business Leaders
  • Institutionalize cost discipline and framework for cost management specific to individual business and functional areas across the business and functional units.
  • Provide Business Leaders with relevant and accurate internal business reporting templates including Products and Account Profitability reports to support business drive and decision making.
  1. Business Intelligence
  • Provide economic, market & business intelligence for strategic, tactical and operational decisions
  • Gather, analyze and maintain economic data and statistics to provide business insights with the objective of driving business growth, efficiencies and overall profitability for UBA America.
  • Conduct in-depth market and sectoral analysis and provide regular market intelligence with the objective of identifying business opportunities and inherent risks to guide business leaders and Executive Management in decision making.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of competitor business activities and performance to provide up-to-date business transformation and improvement insights and benchmark indicators for UBA America.
  • Conduct regular rigorous analysis of internal business activities and performance for comparative and benchmarking purposes.

* Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based upon departmental and Bank needs.Other duties may be assigned like the above consistent with the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position.

KPIs:

  1. Achievement of the Bank’s PBT Target for the financial year.
  2. Achievement of the Bank’s Market Share growth targets.
  3. Attainment of UBA’s America target market value compared to quoted peer banks
  4. PBT Budget Achievement for the strategic business units.
  5. Achievement of the Cost to income ratio target for businesses.
  6. Timeliness and quality of MIS and market intelligence reports as reported by supported business leaders
  7. Ensure regularity in the conduct of periodic monthly performance reviews for UBA America.
  8. Approved budget and strategic document in place before year end.
  9. Implementation Status of the Bank’s Strategic Business Plan Action Points

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum six years’ experience in commercial banking, with demonstrated experience in all areas of finance and accounting.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with a concentration in economics, business and/or accounting; Advance degree a plus
  • CPA certification a MUST
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices as applied to U.S. branches of foreign banks.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize complex financial information.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Professional accounting certification preferred.
