Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design and be proficient in various CAD software applications. This role is essential for creating detailed schematics and designs that meet industry standards and client specifications. The CAD Designer will collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure that all designs are accurate, efficient, and compliant with relevant codes. This position works collaboratively with a group of designers to develop patterns from customer-provided information for manufacturing various types of CNC machines. The AutoCAD Designer must manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines, ensuring a smooth workflow within the design and manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Drafting:
- Utilize AutoCAD and other CAD software to create design layouts and visual aids for customers.
- Experience using Rhino or other 3D modeling software.
- Prepare detailed shop drawings, adhering to Ubique Technologies’ drawing standards.
- Review completed work for accuracy and clarity before passing it to the next team in the design workflow.
- CNC Machine Programing
- Create cut files for various 3 axis and 5 axis CNC machines.
- Ability to efficiently nest parts onto different size materials.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Support the overall drafting and design needs across various departments, including Sales, Production, and Operations.
- Work closely with team leaders to effectively prioritize workload and meet project deadlines.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure all designs and drafts meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design issues as they arise, working with other teams to develop creative solutions.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- 2 years of experience using AutoCAD.
- Skilled in 2D AutoCAD, with some experience in 3D modeling.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy in design and drafting.
- Self-motivated with strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Additional Skills (Preferred but not Required):
- Understanding of CNC machines and CAM software.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in an office or design studio environment, sitting for extended periods while using design software.
- Capable of working in collaboration with manufacturing teams as needed.
Work Environment:
- The role involves working in a design and office environment, with occasional interaction with manufacturing teams or exposure to the production floor.
Travel Plan
- The CAD Designer will be required to travel to Ubique Technologies headquarters in Clanton, AL, on a quarterly basis.
- Travel duration: 2-3 days per trip.
- Company will cover travel expenses, including transportation, lodging, and per diem.
- Travel dates will be scheduled in advance in coordination with the Design Manager.
