Job Description
About the Role:
Reporting directly to the COO, the Product Development Leader will oversee all aspects of product execution, managing product managers, QA leaders, and an outsourced development team while spearheading the transition to an internal development model. This is a strategic leadership role that requires balancing immediate delivery needs with long-term team building and innovation strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Development Strategy: Drive the evolution and execution of our product roadmap, ensuring new features and enhancements align with the company’s strategic objectives and deliver exceptional user experiences.
Oversee Teams: Manage and mentor product managers and QA leaders, fostering collaboration, accountability, and growth across functions.
Collaborate with Partners: Work closely with our longstanding outsourced development partner to oversee deliverables, maintain high-quality standards, and meet project timelines.
Build an Internal Team: Develop a hiring and transition plan to establish a robust internal development team, ensuring a seamless shift while maintaining productivity and innovation.
Ensure Technical Excellence: Provide technical oversight, leveraging expertise in modern frameworks like React and Java to guide architecture, scalability, and maintainability.
Drive Agile Practices: Champion Agile and Scrum methodologies, ensuring efficient workflows, clear prioritization, and timely delivery of projects.
Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with design, product, QA, and business teams to align on priorities and ensure cohesive product execution.
Promote Quality: Implement and oversee comprehensive quality assurance processes, including manual, automated, and regression testing programs.
Communicate Effectively: Serve as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into actionable strategies and insights.
Qualifications
Experience: 8 years in product development, engineering, or technical leadership roles, with experience managing multidisciplinary teams and outsourced partners.Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead teams through periods of transition, growth, and execution.
Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with modern technologies, including React, Java, and cloud-based architectures.
Agile Methodology: Deep understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies, with a proven ability to implement and optimize these practices.
Product Management: Experience partnering with product managers to define and execute roadmaps, prioritize initiatives, and deliver high-quality results.
QA Leadership: Familiarity with comprehensive quality assurance frameworks, including automated and manual testing approaches.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to balance immediate product needs with long-term goals, including team building and innovation.
Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Domain Knowledge: Experience in financial services or retirement solutions is a plus but not required.

Additional Information
This is a salaried, full-time, remote position with salary and variable compensation range of $180-225k. Please submit your offer letter with a short cover letter stating your experience leading an outsourced engineering team and highlighting your product experience.
