Seeking a FULL TIME Nurse Practitioner
Title: Nurse Practitioner
Department: Colorectal Surgery
Reports to: Physicians
Salary Range: $100,000 – $120,000 annually
Position Summary: University at Buffalo Surgeons, Inc. is seeking a full time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for Surgical Services. This position offers plenty of diversity with APPs functioning in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as serving as first assists in the operating room alongside our talented surgeons. The APP has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The APP will utilize advanced clinical skills and knowledge to assess patients and manage all aspects of care, including ordering of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This APP will communicate clinical issues to the attending physician on call and facilitate arrangements for admission, discharge, or intervention. This multifaceted role includes direct patient care, education, consultation, and treatment planning. Duties will include a variety of inpatient hospital activities and outpatient clinic responsibilities
Essential Functions:
➢ Rounds on assigned patients as directed by the attending surgeon.
➢ Performs procedures on surgery patients in the outpatient setting and assists the surgeons in the operating room as needed.
➢ Informs attending surgeon of patient conditions requiring more in-depth review and assessments.
➢ Seeks guidance in situations where the course is unclear, or experience is lacking.
➢ Maintains appropriate medical records.
➢ Acts as first assist in OR on an as needed basis.
➢ Establishes and maintains good communication and working relationships with members of the office staff, nursing staff and other hospital departments.
➢ Leads office staff in development and performance of efficient office practices
Other Functions:
➢ Ability to handle multiple priorities in a stressful situation.
➢ Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
➢ Knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative technique related to the operative procedures.
➢ Ability to perform effectively in stressful and emergency situations.
➢ Ability to recognize safety hazards and initiate appropriate preventive and corrective action.
➢ Ability to perform effectively and harmoniously as a member of the team.
➢ Participates in educational conferences; upgrades and maintains professional knowledge and skills related to the area of responsibility,
➢ Maintains confidentiality and understands the legal aspects of the job function, adheres to company policies and procedures.
➢ Demonstrates critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities required, as related to various aspects of patient care.
➢ Demonstrates good clinical judgment.
Qualifications
Education: Graduate of accredited Nurse Practitioner program, NYS certification/registration as a Family, Adult or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, CPR certified / BLS required / ACLS required, AANP Board Certification, DEA Licensure Required, RNFA Certification (preferred)
Experience/Qualifications: Previous surgical support services as a mid-level provider, one (1) year preferred.
