The Ambulatory Care Supervisor (ACS) is responsible for sustaining an environment of intrinsic goodwill for the practice while providing optimum services to patients. Th e ACS position serves as an office supervisor and functions under the direction of the Department Manager, to supervise a large group of employees and provide accountability as delegated for the day-to-day operations of the designated clinic location(s). The ACS is responsible for the direct supervision and development of clerical and clinical support staff positions in conjunction with the Department Manager.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Assisting with establishing staffing requirements and assignments to staff
- Respond to questions from staff regarding workflow, work process, or unusual circumstances
- Conduct weekly / monthly staff meetings in conjunction with the Department Manager
- Assist in identifying and providing opportunities for staff to obtain further training and expertise, which will enhance skill levels and job performance
- Maintain an efficient flow of information between clerical back-office staff, management, and physicians
- Monitor and adjust work assignments to provide adequate coverage for all positions supervised
- Coordinate with Nurse Manager or Supervisor, or department back office leads and Department Manager for back-office workflow delegation
- Serve as resource person for staff to answer questions and resolve problems
- Participate in activities related to physician schedules, template maintenance; and scheduling parameters to monitor and provide appropriate patient access
- Assist with coordinating communication regarding provider time off and / or call coverage
- Compile data for monthly statistical reports as requested by the Department Manager
- Proficiency in the operation of computer systems and applications necessary for clinic staff to perform their primary job functions
