What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Care Dialysis Technician 1 position at UC Davis Health?
This position is charged with assisting the nursing staff with the provision of care for the dialysis patient. Completed work and and decisions made are performed under the supervision of the registered nurses and performed within established departmental guidelines. Work is assigned according to patient census and performed based on established departmental guidelines and policies and procedures set forth by UCDMC.
- Certified Clin Hemodialysis Tech (CCHT)
- California Department of Public Health Hemodialysis Technician Certification without restriction
- High school graduate or GED
- Minimum three years previous experience as a dialysis technician.
- Minimum three years previous experience as a dialysis technician, acute care experience preferred
- Able to stand for extended periods; able to see well enough to read gauges
- Knowledge of dialysis terminology
- Ability to obtain vital signs
- Ability to accurately read documents in the medical record and enter complete and accurate data into the electronic medical record
- Work at establishing a good rapport and professional working relationship with all departmental personnel; readily assist co-workers; motivate cooperation of staff while working toward institutional and departmental goals; maintain appropriate interdepartmental programs and/or meetings.
- Offer assistance and provide direction to visitors, patients, physicians, and families in a concise, sensitive, informative, and professional manner, keeping a positive and courteous tone
- Ability to safely lift 25 pounds and assist in moving patients, and to stand on feet over extended periods, assist with supply management as needed.
- Acute care experience preferred
- This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
