Position Overview
The Accounting Associate will provide key support to the Accounting and Finance team by performing a variety of accounting-specific tasks to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial processes. This position is designed to assist in maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and improving operational workflows within the accounting department. The Accounting Associate will work under general supervision, directly assisting the Controller and supporting critical financial functions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
- Organize and maintain financial documents, ensuring proper filing and adherence to record-keeping standards.
- Support the preparation of financial reports and assist in monthly and year-end closing processes.
- Assist in the reconciliation of accounts, including bank and credit card statements, to ensure financial accuracy.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper coding of expenses and assist in budget tracking.
- Process and track office supply orders, ensuring budget adherence and accurate expense reporting.
- Review and verify incoming financial transactions for accuracy, resolving discrepancies as necessary.
- Support the Controller with other accounting-related tasks to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned to streamline accounting operations and ensure a smooth workflow within the department.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), with a strong ability to manage and analyze financial data.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to process large volumes of financial data accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly in resolving discrepancies and reconciling financial information.
- Strong organizational skills with a focus on maintaining accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
