Your Role on the Team
Position Summary
The GI Tech Lead assists with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or physicians in endoscopy. Incumbent has the responsibility to assist with the assessment of patient needs and follows through with the designated plan of action. Additionally, incumbent is responsible for the care, handling, and processing of endoscopy procedural equipment and turnover of the procedure room(s). This individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development within their scope and appropriately interpret and communicate information relative to the patient’s age-specific needs. This individual effectively communicates data reflective of the patient’s status, delegated tasks and/or functions. Functions as a lead to other GI Techs and assists with operational needs, such as ordering supplies and equipment, scheduling, patient flow, etc.

Required Qualifications
- Current GI Certification through the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Ability to work well in a constantly changing environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds
- Medical Assistant Diploma or Certificate of Competency / Recognition in Medical Assisting
- Clinical / Back Office or minimum 3 years’ experience working as a GI/Endoscopy Technician in a hospital setting
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- Current BLS certification
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
- Flexibility to work variable shifts, including occasional weekends or holidays
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese
- Phlebotomy certification
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
