Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. The Department of Family & Community Medicine has played a leading role in fellow, resident, and medical student education since 1974 and continues to focus on improving the health of members of our Cincinnati community and beyond, with a special focus on medically underserved patients. With faculty expertise in areas such as primary care research, palliative care, geriatrics, global health and integrative medicine, the department is advancing the college's commitment to cultivating learning environments, fostering research and scholarship, and providing innovative patient care.

The Department of Family & Community Medicine is seeking a Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Med-Peds physician to join us as a fellow beginning in July 2026. The Sawyer Pardo Fellowship for LGBTQ Health aims to train physicians to be leaders in health care for LGBTQ and gender expansive individuals through clinical excellence, scholarship, and advocacy for and with LGTBQ communities.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities in the areas of clinical, academic, and leadership will include:

  • Provide care to an LGBTQ focused primary care patient panel at the UC Health Primary Care Wyoming/Hartwell office, a faculty ambulatory family medicine office.
  • Provide LGBTQ focused care in the Gender and Sexual Health Clinics at UC Provide direct, independent clinical care with ongoing mentorship as needed from the Program Directors.
  • Provide broad spectrum primary care aligned with their residency training and gender affirming hormone therapy to transgender and gender diverse adults.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives within clinical practice.
  • Complete outpatient telephone home calls in the faculty pool once per month.
  • Participate in additional clinical experiences with fellowship faculty at Equitas Health and UC Health specialty clinics (eg: infectious disease, plastic surgery, urology, obstetrics and gynecology, endocrinology, gender spectrum voice, etc.)
  • Participate in health policy opportunities aligned with interest.
  • Engage in community-based participatory research on LGBTQ health out-comes.
  • Participate in education initiatives in inclusive excellence in medical under-graduate and graduate education, including opportunities to teach resident physicians, medical students, and interdisciplinary learners.

Minimum Requirements

  • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.)
  • Completion of residency in Family Medicine, Med-Peds, or Internal Medicine.
  • Ohio Medical license.
